KIRA HEDGELAND
What sport are you specialised in?
Triathlon
Can you describe a typical training day?
A typical training day consists of 2-3 sessions, which are some combination of either swimming, cycling, running, gym or pilates.
What is the achievement you are most proud of?
I am most proud of my 4th place at the U23 World Triathlon Championships in Edmonton, Canada in 2021.
Tell us about your favourite training session and discipline?
If I had to pick one for each discipline, for the swim my favourite is a VO2 session. For the bike my favourite is hill reps. Then for the run my favourite is a track set (when you feel good and you’re moving!). I honestly don’t have a favourite discipline, which I why I’ve stuck to triathlon for all these years.
What is your fave pre-race meal
The night before, pizza. Then the morning of (it’s not my favourite but it’s what I have) plain white rice.
What Kozii do you like to wear?
All of them! But if I had to pick, my favourite cut is the Elite-X. And my favourite print would be the SPLICE, specifically PINE BERRY.
How do you feel when you wear Kozii swimwear?
Proud. I have had a lot of international female triathletes at swim course familiarisation ask me what brand my swimwear is.
What is your favourite thing to do in Kozii Swimwear?
My hard pool swim training sessions.
What do you like about the new style the Elite X?
I like how the thin straps look. The way they cross over and sit on my back makes them comfortable and supportive.
Describe Kozii Swimwear in three words:
Durable. Comfortable. Pretty.
How does it feel to fly the flag for Kozii swimwear?
I am really proud to fly the flag of Kozii swimwear for many reasons. A few being, that I love supporting an Australian brand. The people at Kozii understand what makes good swimwear. They are comfortable, flattering yet appropriate and they are always the prettiest prints and designs.
Where can we find you training in your Kozii Swimwear?
When I am in Australia, at the Miami Aquatic Centre. However, I have worn my Kozii’s in pools all over the world, as well as at swim course familiarisations all over the world! Plus, four afternoon’s a week in the Emmanuel College learn to swim pool teaching kids how to swim.
How many Kozii’s do you have in your closet?
Too many to count. I may have more than one draw dedicated to Kozii’s.
What are your goals for 2026?
My goals for 2026 are to get my first World Cup podium and to make the elite team for the World Championship Finals in Spain.
If you could give any young girls some words of wisdom in regard to body confidence, what would it be?
That our female bodies go through so much change in life and that’s normal. It’s not something you need to fix or control. Try not to put pressure on yourself to look a certain way, especially when so much of what our bodies looks like comes down to things we can’t control.
Plus, comparing yourself to others is just going to take you further away from feeling good about your own body because we are all build differently (and that’s the point). So be kind to your body, focus of what it does for you and know the people who matter most in your life care far more about who you are than what you look like.
